Cork versus Caps
Wine Knows / 0 Comment / November 23, 2015

The rumor that good wines only come with corks is slowly being dispelled.  The purpose of a cork is to allow the wine to breath, meaning slowly receive oxygen for the aging process.  If a wine wasn’t meant to age then a screw cap is probably a better seal.  The Australian’s proved that the variation in oxygen in wines with screw caps after 10 years in the bottle were 5% while those wines with corks were 50%.

Read “wine knows” on moldy smells which comes from corks.  This is another reason to go with screw caps.  The best reason is you don’t need a cork screw and the bottle reseals very easily.
