The winemaker's techniques cross old world with new. Structured after a classic Bordeaux style, but with California fruit and a modern sense of gentle tannin this wine reveals itself in layers.
Cassis is always the fruit backbone of Monte Rosso Cabernet Sauvignon. The layers bring in the terroir of red earth, herbaceous pepper with both black and white peppercorn. These are enhanced with another layer of cedar, smoke, vanilla and a hint of citrus from the wood.
The elegance comes in the mouth feel. The initial approach seems almost delicate but as the wine moves towards the throat the length and dynamics of the structure become evident. The finish follows in both the mid palate and length for a substantial duration.
Drink now or age for another 20 years.
